THE Concept
A universe contained within a small space.
The retablo is a traditional folk art of the Andes — a small devotional box, often crafted from wood, within which figures, people, animals and scenes from everyday, religious and communal life are brought to life. Far beyond a decorative object, it is a vessel for preserving collective memory and cultural heritage.
J. Salinas explores this idea not to replicate the retablo, but to capture its essence: how stories become silhouettes, how memory becomes texture, how craftsmanship evolves into a contemporary language. Every garment is made by hand with Peruvian women artisans.

The Designer
Jorge Luis Salinas
Jorge Luis Salinas is a renowned Peruvian fashion designer known for merging cultural heritage with contemporary innovation. A graduate of the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, his career has been shaped by a constant exploration of tradition, craftsmanship, and modern design.
Influenced by his parents’ work in Gamarra, Peru’s textile hub, Salinas developed a strong foundation in craftsmanship and discipline. His work combines ancestral techniques with contemporary aesthetics, while his collaborations with artisan communities seek to preserve and reinterpret Peru’s cultural heritage for a global audience.
